These unique projects turn characterful, dilapidated buildings into beautiful homes in often picturesque and rural locations. Often time consuming, but always rewarding to see the transformation.

Converting old barns into something modern

We've got plenty of experience when it comes to modernising old barns into something new.

34

The number of barns we've converted to date.

This first paragraph should relate to barn conversions - talk a little more in depth about what the process of barn conversions is.

This second paragraph could have a subheading if needed to talk about anything else related to barn converions. It is optional but may be worth thinking about what else we could add?

Stonework

Stonework is undoubtedly a central aspect of many barn conversions. It is often stipulated that locally sourced lime mortar from Ty Mawr Lime is used to create a perfect match of stone and mortar. To re-create the original works, our stonemasons take time and care to meticulously re-build, rake out and point the locally sourced stone to enable the original character to shine through.

Warmth & Light

A major aspect of any barn conversion is to make sure that it’s suitable to be lived in. A lot of work goes into ensuring that the building has the insulation it requires, a modern heating system and compliant windows to make sure it retains as much heat as possible and is comfortable to live in.  Many barn conversions are designed and renovated to allow as much light in as possible with plenty of windows to bring a new life in to an old building.

History

The most enjoyable part of being part of barn conversions is the historic significance of the existing building. Most conversion projects Seer has completed has kept the integrity and character of the original building, but brought a modern 21st Century twist to it. Barn conversions can bring challenges as the extent of some works is sometimes unknown. However, some of the most rewarding projects are those where derelict and obsolete buildings are brought back to life to be enjoyed.

Our latest barn conversions

Nant Llanerch

Nestled in the picturesque Welsh countryside, Nant Llanerch, a Grade II listed building, underwent a stunning transformation from an old farmhouse to a modern holiday let. Directed by Gareth and Andrew Rees, directors of the project, bespoke carpentry and innovative micro-topping techniques were employed to create contemporary spaces, including a custom kitchen and unique bunk beds, seamlessly blending tradition with modernity.

Duffryn School

This was our third project awarded by BAM Construction. This time, it was based in Duffryn, Newport. We completed the groundworks for this Secondary School including foundations, drainage, and hard landscaping. With an open secondary school just metres away, this site had to be closely monitored to ensure members of the public were kept safe.

Pandy

Once derelict and dilapidated, this old barn has been given a new lease of life. The client’s vision was to transform this unused property to a stunning addition to their house by attaching a new linkway which takes you from their family home into the newly renovated barn.
